SIOR Foundation awards $22,000 grant to Ukraine real estate school to deliver rebuilding education programme

The Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) Foundation has awarded a $22,000 grant to the Kyiv School of Development (KSD) to support the launch of a ‘Recovery Manager’ program. This initiative aims to train over 100 specialists in reconstruction efforts, focusing on rebuilding towns and villages in Ukraine affected by the ongoing conflict with Russia. KSD, located in Kyiv, has been a prominent institution in real estate and construction education since 2017, with over 450 graduates. The program will provide free training to equip professionals with the necessary skills to drive sustainable development and regeneration projects.The SIOR Foundation, comprising real estate leaders dedicated to advancing the commercial real estate sector, supports initiatives that promote education, best practices, and responsible development. This grant aligns with the Foundation’s mission to educate and expand the real estate community, contributing to Ukraine’s broader recovery efforts. The initiative also complements the objectives of the recent Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2024) in Germany, which emphasized a comprehensive approach to rebuilding by engaging various stakeholders.

Iain Finnegan, President of the European Chapter of SIOR, highlighted the program’s potential to benefit not only the participants but also the entire nation of Ukraine. Matthew Leguen de Lacroix, Head of Business Development at SIOR, emphasized the importance of equipping the younger generation with the skills needed for reconstruction, having witnessed the war’s devastation firsthand. This educational program represents a significant step towards rebuilding and revitalizing Ukraine’s infrastructure and communities.
